Bedtime prayer virgins, snuggly sippies and vanity jeans...

I know but so many things to talk about in one little blog post. lol So our son is now 5 and every night at bedtime we read stories and say prayers. One night almost a year ago our adorable son decided he was too tired to say the long version (where we say everyone's name in our immediate family) so he he wanted the short version. :) So now it's a nightly question if he is "a little tired" or "a lot tired" to determine which version we say. The last couple nights he has hemmed and hawed about how tired he was. So I asked if he wanted the short version or long version which was promptly followed by his response "what's the difference?" Tonight our adorable son was extra tired and when that happens sometimes his words don't come out quite right. So tonight after stories he quickly informed me that he was thinking he wanted the long virgin of the prayer, he said it twice and it I had to giggle. Just something funny about the words prayer and virgin in the same sentence coming from a 5 year old that you just can't help but giggle!

Then it was on to putting Sweet Pea to sleep. Little Man has always had his teddy to snuggle with growing up and then as he got older he had a build-a-bear puppy that he snuggled with but Sweet Pea never really took to anything like that until now. Her latest and greatest funny thing is to snuggle with her sippy cup of milk at bedtime. She likes to have it when we read stories and lately I can't seem to get her to give it back to me when I lay her down in bed, she actually wants to snuggle it sleep! Of all the things I may think of her snuggling with, I never dreamed in a million years it would be a sippy cup! So she has a pint sized Mickey that I wait until she's tired enough not to care when I do the exchange.

Then vanity jeans, agh where to start... Well I've been losing weight at a steady rate finally since having Sweet Pea 19 months ago. This means clothes shopping of course. So my jeans now are a size 10 and I'm on the verge of a size 8 at least I think I am. So I go to my favorite place to shop NY & Co tonight since I had to get some new shirts and I decide to give jeans a whirl to see how close I am to that 8. Well I was quickly irritated by the fact that I can squeeze into and button but wouldn't leave the house in one style of size 8 and then in a different style a 10 barely fit, talk about depressing! I think it has a lot to do with the cut and fit but still it's such a big difference it's amazing and depressing all at once. I guess this would be something they'd call vanity sizing but it seems to work both ways. Guess I have to just keep relying on the ol' tape measure to gauge my losses. I'm hoping to be in a 6 by my birthday in December though, I will succeed if it's the last thing I do!

Going home for a visit...

Well here I sit enjoying my coffee watching my daughter watch Little Einstein’s while Daddy drops Little Man off at school. When did these kids get so big and where is the slow down button? We bought Sweet Pea her first "bike" the day before yesterday, it's a cute pink and purple radio flyer trike and she loves it! She's really starting to figure out the pedaling thing too, obviously she has a ways to go but something tells me it won't be long before she has it down. Her new discovery too is that she can get in Little Man’s power wheels truck and make it go, it's much more powerful than her Dora 4-wheeler so when she hits the gas it jerks forward and she just laughs, silly girl.

Then Little Man, I seriously don't know when he got so old on me. We bought him a level one reading book and Daddy read it with him last night, he did awesome. He's writing his own name at school now and actually staying within the dotted line area (think back to your early grade school paper), I couldn't be more proud of him. He's also very opinionated these days, he gets that from me. :) He has a radio he likes to listen to at night and it has to be on Z88.3 which is the contemporary Christian music station, he just loves that station. If I try to listen to something else in the car he throws a fit, he likes his music his way. We were actually looking at what a kid’s mp3 player with radio would cost but they are hard to find for boys.

In other news, we bought a nice DSLR camera recently since Daddy loves photography and he's getting pretty good with it. We bought some props and are just trying to hunt down a good backdrop for a decent price so we can do a photo shoot with the kids, I'm excited to see how it all goes.

Oh and I can't believe I didn't mention it first but we are going for a visit to Minnesota 10/15/08 through 10/21/08 and I'm so excited I could dance! We have so many people to see and our wonderful friends have graciously invited us into their home to stay while we are there. I can't even begin to tell you how much I miss my friends and family, it's tough to be 1500 miles away from them. But who knows where life will take us, we seem to never be able to stay in one spot too long. ;) My poor friends got hit with Ike in St. Louis and my sister-in-law did as well in Cincinnati which is crazy since we live in Florida and didn't get anything but a day’s rain out of it. I also recently learned that St. Louis gets an earthquake, that’s crazy! I'm glad no one was hurt and the damage was minimal comparatively.

I couldn't feel more blessed with my little family and all my wonderful friends, thank you God for putting such wonderful people in my life!

The wonders of water and Mickey!

Well I started this blog thinking I would blog a lot but life has been crazy busy and it's been almost a year. This is just an update blog but hopefully I can do this more often!

Well Little Man turned 5 on the 10th of September, 5, he turned 5 where the heck did time go? He's saying and doing things that just blow my mind every day! He's such a wonderful little boy (of course I'm a bit prejudice) and a great big brother, oh don't get me wrong he has his moments but he's such a wonderful little guy. We are conducting an experiment in our house right now, it's all about water. Last night at dinner he started talking about the ice in his glass of water and how it gets smaller etc. So Daddy and I started having a conversation with him about all the cool things water can do and how ice is water frozen with air in-between etc. He was fascinated by this conversation it was great. We told him in fact if he put the whole cup in the freezer it would turn into one big ice cube before bed so of course we had to try it. :) Sure enough just before bed he asked if we had an ice cube yet and I took it out to prove it to him, he was so amazed. So then I told him if we left it on the counter it would turn back to water overnight so we did that. Then this morning I told him if he left his cup on the counter for days that the water would disappear like Daddy and I were telling him about last night so that's the next leg of the experiment. I forget sometimes what it was like to be a kid and learn these little science lessons first hand. He's in preK4 this year and loving school, he's getting good at writing his name and actually including all the letters too (of course they have his name on the table in front of him to help him out). He comes home talking about how to write letters like capital I which "you do a line and then give it a hat and then feet and that's a capital I". Ah to be young again sometimes, I'm so happy to be blessed to live it again through both of my kiddos.

Now there's Sweet Pea and she's cute as a button just out and out ornery, I have no other word to describe it! She's 19 months now and we had to set up her toddler bed because she was trying to climb out of her crib, the stinker. She is so smart and imitates Little Man so much, I can see that she's learning things so much earlier than him because of him. Of course he's all too happy to show her how to do things which is adorable...unless it's something like jumping on the couch! You can see in his eyes how much he loves her and you can see how much she looks up to him as well, I couldn't be happier to be blessed with such loving children. Sweet Pea is learning to talk a lot these days and I have a feeling that between Sweet Pea and Little Man we won't get a word in come the very near future. :) The other night we had pizza for dinner, it's a family favorite for sure. Of course we went and picked it up and when we got in the car for the ride home she was hollering in the back "Pizza, Pizza, Piece!" and I had to kindly explain to her that we can't eat pizza in the car and she'll have to wait until we get home, she wasn't so happy with that idea. All the way in the house she kept saying Pizza, Piece, Pizza, Piece! And her current obsession is Mickey Mouse, not sure where that started but she loves the mouse! We went to Disney for Labor Day and took the kids to the meet Mickey and Minnie spot and Sweet Pea almost climbed over the crowd in line, she just kept yelling "Mitey, Mitey" (like oven mit), it's cute how she says it. When we went to pick out bedding for her toddler bed she found this Mickey pillow that had a Mickey sleeping bag with it and she HAD to have it so that's what's on her bed, it's not very girly but she loves it so it works. :)

Well the natives are getting restless so I'm going to end this novel now with a promise to return much sooner next time. ;)
